September Flowers from the Farm

A couple weeks ago I ran around Kate’s farm ( and cut whatever I wanted to and made arrangements. It was wonderful and heady! The farm was exploding with flowers, but it happened to be a slow week, sales wise. So Kate and I and our shared assistant, “The Incredible Kat”, spent the afternoon drinking tea and playing with the flowers. I didn’t have a wedding that week, and the afternoon felt like such an incredible indulgence. Even though I arrange flowers for a living, I often have to do it quickly and many, many times all at once, concentrating on styling everything for my client’s unique tastes, while making a big mess that needs to be cleaned up afterwards. There is so much to think about when preparing for a job, so many tiny details and big details to keep track of.

So an afternoon with no flower agenda, just flower freedom… well, I think I need to do this more often!
